BITCHFEST

05.May

Thanx to my good friend Octi for pointing out this “bitch” to me.

(He said she reminded him of me, so I was bound to like her from the start…)

I just love her rough voice and all her covers sound excellent; they really got my blood pumping again – after a very exhausting week/month/trimester of my life :)

I hope you will enjoy the songs as much as I did. After all, the world needs as many bitches as it can get…

White trash sounds about exactly correct. I figure this corny musical act will titillate repressed teenagers in rural America for about 1 year before she disappears of the radar having never made any money from the record companies. Enjoy while it lasts!

Not everything is always about selling records and making money, you know? Not for everybody.

Ok, so she’s not the hottest / coolest / smartest / brightest / “next big thing” / intellectual girl / artist in the world. So ?

She enjoys what she’s doing and i don’t think anyone needs to worry about how much money she’s making while she’s having the fun of her life singing the songs of the people she’s massaging with her teeth.

On the other hand… labelling with an air of superiority is far easier and a refreshing pass-time activity, isn’t it ?

Heh. I don’t deny she’s probably having fun in her 15 seconds of fame. I don’t pretend Billboard stats make an artist either. But I’ll readily admit an air of superiority in my labelling her (accurately). It’s music; opinions wanted.

Labelling HER ? Accurately ? By whose standards ? Yours ?

I don’t mind swapping (even extreme) opinions about music but i was – and still am – under the impression that you’re talking about HER – AS A PERSON when you’re applying your “white trash” label.

If you were actually only talking about her musical act than I’ll stop here, my bad. That would be a HUGE debate i don’t generally have any time and purpose for.

But if you’re talking about her as a person, then I’ll gladly continue to try and prove you wrong. I feel that would be worth the effort.

It could also be that you don’t really make a distinction between the two, in which case i’d still think you’re mistaking. But i I don’t know that.

You tell me!

As I didn’t go to school with her, nor have her as a cousin, nor go to church with her, I cannot speak for what kind of person she is underneath all the makeup and sequins. She might be a Harvard educated lawyer for all I know, but I tend to doubt that theory.

I take it you have known her personally for a long time. It’s the only explanation for your vociferous response and I’ll gladly concede judgement to you, in that particular case.

Meh. I’m not here to start a flame war. I’ve said my piece and I stand by it. The act is definitely white trash and it is likely (although not certain) that she might be as well.

I’m glad to see you exert effort to protect the reputation of your close and personal friends. I find it admirable and I could definitely respect such loyalty.

As for her and the act, I couldn’t care less.

OK, so you do make a distinction between the act and the person. I’m relieved. You also admit that the act being trash (whatever colour) doesn’t imply the same being true about the person. Nice.

That’s all i was hoping to hear from you and i could actually stop here, but things got even more interesting when you took the conversation to a next level by making even more assumptions and judging based on them, so i won’t.

You assume that:

1: I’m a loyal friend hurt in his feelings by your labelling, now defending… whatever.

Far from it! I know her just as much or just as less as i know you, from clicking a few times on both your websites.

2: Me being a hurt loyal friend is the only explanation for my “vociferous response”.

Wrong again. If I’m defending anything I’m defending my belief that people shouldn’t haste to label one another and that they certainly shouldn’t judge based upon assumptions since these are the sources of most the of world’s problems today.

It hurts me when i see it happening and even more so when it comes from an American living in Romania, a country where people look up to you simply because you talk “like in the movies”. (OK, I’m exaggerating, but you get the point, don’t you?)

3. There’s no way that a Harvard educated lawyer could be labelled as “white trash”.

Wrong again. In fact it only depends on who is doing the labelling. a “white trash” label can fit on a (white) Harvard lawyer just as well as on anything else (proven that it’s white).

Oh, and don’t you worry, if I had the slightest suspicion that you’re trying to start a flame war i would have just ignored you.

An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a coworker who has
been doing a little homework on this. And he in fact bought
me lunch due to the fact that I stumbled upon it for
