New category – Snowboard

30.Sep

As the summer is officially finished – and so are the every-week escapes to the seaside -, a new target is set: the first snow and the snowboard on my feet.

Thus, the new category, “Snowboard” featuring mostly music to listen on the board. There are 2 articles so far in this category, one of them containing my snowboard playlist from last winter. This year, along with a new board, new music is going to come.

To get it off for a quick start, here are 2 snowboard tracks:

- Me and the Gimme Gimmes – All your lovin’ – a punk band which only singes covers. They sound quite nice and it’s interesting to listen to blues tracks remixed in a punk version. Goes along fine with some speed on the board.

- Authority Zero – One More Minute – a track which I first discovered in a motorcycles video, it combines a rock-punk attitude with some ska sounds. Also a nice thing to listen to for the more relaxed rides and jumping on kickers on the refrain.

I don’t suppose you’d be interested in some Psy trance for those long runs down the mountain side, eh?

Anyway, here’s some of the music I use to get the adrenaline up (in no particular order): Parkway Drive, Rob Zombie, Lostprophets, Blood for my Vallentine, Manson, Celldweller, a few Maiden and Helloween, Rammstein, and a couple of Linkin Park and Manowar songs.
Though I use them when I’m a) pissed b) playing violent games online.

Thanks for the tips.

Rob Zombie, Lostprophets and Linkin Park are already featured in the snowboard playlist from last year, probably they will make it this year too.

Maiden, Helloween or Manowar are too “metal” for snowboarding.

I will try the others as well. Also, Scooter is sometimes nice, like “A little bit too fast”, for example.

Mhm, haven’t listened to Scooter since high school…

I tried to listen to music while skiing or while sliding with the snowboard, but I found it quite risky. I think it’s better to try to keep safe, ’cause hearing is very important on ski splopes. it helps you know when there are people very close to you. And for this you need BOTH years.

if you go fast enough, people are never close to you :). Anyway, the increasing sense of freedom it produces is worth the risk, in my opinion. Helps me relax more….
